The main aim of the TII Research Programme is to enable TII to carry out its purpose “to deliver and maintain transport infrastructure and services enabling connectivity and regional development”. Research is one of the key ways that TII informs operational policy and sets standards. Emphasis is on: What is likely to be TII needs, Ensuring state-of-the art materials and techniques are used, Filling knowledge gaps where they exist, and Implementing the research conclusions and integrating the research outputs in a timely and effective way. The research program covers all areas of TII responsibility including planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations. TII523: Open Research Call 2026 consists of two lots: Lot 1: Consideration of total cost and total value of environmental factors in transport infrastructure projects. Lot 2: Research on the Assessment of the Lifespan of timber posts used in road boundary fencing. Refer to Project Specification for complete details on each lot. Estimated amount of €315,000 is for both lots; €255,000 for Lot 1 and €60,000 for Lot 2.
